Hi everyone! I’m Sophie – I’m 21 years old and originally from Bethesda. I was very fortunate to receive the post of Translation Professional Trainee with Gwynedd Council’s Translation Unit this September – and I’m really looking forward to the next two years being part of the team.
Before starting the professional trainee post, I completed my A Levels at Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen before moving to south Wales where I lived in Swansea completing a degree in Welsh. Now, I’ve graduated and returned to the north and enjoy working and living at home in the shadow of the mountains. As well as working full time, I also have the wonderful opportunity to complete a Masters in Professional Translation Studies at Aberystwyth University. I’m really looking forward to getting started!
In my spare time, I love taking part in outdoor activities and Gwynedd is the perfect place for this – I love mountain walking, biking, running and wild swimming (when the Welsh weather permits!). I hope to blog and vlog over the next two years for you to get an insight into what it’s like to work for the Council – and see all the great opportunities we get from being part of the scheme – so stay tuned for more information!
