Hello! I’m Jess. I live in Deiniolen next door to the house where I grew up. I have just started as a Leadership and Management Professional Trainee in Health and Care.
I started my education at Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi and then moved to Ysgol Brynrefail for secondary school. Unfortunately at the time Brynrefail did not offer psychology so I switched to Ysgol Friars. After doing an A level in psychology I decided to move to Scotland to study a BSc psychology at the University of Glasgow. In 2014 I graduated and needed to decide what to do next.
I loved living in Scotland but missed my family and the mountains of Snowdonia so I persuaded my boyfriend (now husband) to move home with me. I started a full time position as a Duty Officer at Canolfan Brailsford (Bangor University sports center). Alongside this I studied an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology on a part-time basis over three years. This was a busy time in my life but it taught me so many skills.
After graduating from the MSc I moved to work at Bangor University’s Students Union as Societies and UMCB Co-ordinator. This was a very interesting and job with 142 different societies to support. Every day was different.
Over the past year during the pandemic I decided it was time to change jobs and take the next step. Cynllun Yfory looked like an amazing scheme to develop skills and provide the opportunity to work in a job that helps the people of Gwynedd live their lives. I’m looking forward to being part of Gwynedd Council’s large family.
In my spare time you will find me running and walking in the mountains of Snowdonia with my sheep dog Medi, or sewing my own clothes drinking a cuppa.
Bye for now
