How’s it going?
I’m Aron, and I come from Dolgellau. I’ve recently started as a Finance Trainee on the Specialist of Tomorrow scheme, which offers a fantastic opportunity to gain CIPFA qualification in three years. You’re never too old to learn… or so they say. This is my chance to prove that to myself as I’ll be turning 30 this year.
It feels a distant memory since i went to Ysgol Y Gader, Dolgellau and then on to Aberystwyth University where i gained a 2:1 degree with hons in Welsh and History. There are a few grey hairs to be seen by now and I can only partly blame that on my young daughter who keeps me busy. She’s absolutely amazing.
Having finished University I went to work for Barclays for 7 years. It’ll be an interesting change moving from working in the private sector in to the public sector, and the challenge of balancing the work, the scheme and the qualification will be an exciting juggling act.
Outside of work, as I mentioned, my time is largely taken up by parenting, but during any spare time I get, you’ll find me watching football or playing golf, neither as often as I would like. I would describe my character as lively, positive and workmanlike.
I look forward to sharing my stories over the next three years
