Jess’ First Week

The first week has arrived. On the first day the seven new trainees had a face-to-face meeting in the Galeri. It was so much of a treat to meet everyone face to face. The day started with everyone having the opportunity to get to know each other. By the afternoon I had learned some interesting things about my new Colleagues, including the fact that one got into the top 50 to be part of ‘Bake off’ and one can read Latin. I’m really looking forward to working with them.

The next step was to meet my Line Manager and learn all about the Adults, Health and Well-being team. It was so interesting to learn about all the work that goes into helping the people of Gwynedd live their lives as they want. I am so excited that i  can be part of some of the projects that help this happen.

The next few days quickly became full of reading and understanding council systems and policies, completing e-learning and meeting lots of different people. I feel very lucky to be in a job where I can meet so many different staff including Senior Managers and Heads of departments. In a few weeks we will all even have the opportunity to have a question and answer session with the Chief Executive.

It’s  Friday afternoon of the first week and I can’t believe how much time has flown by. There are a few exciting things in the calendar next week, including meetings to talk about the first projects that will be working on.

I will aim to blog to share how things are going but for now time for some weekend relaxation.

Bye for now.
