Hello and welcome back to my blog!
I thought I would make the most of this opportunity to update you on something that I have given considerable attention over the last few months, the CMI qualification.
It is a management and leadership qualification that I hope will help me develop the skills needed to lead and manage individuals and teams in the future.
There are 8 units in total and there are 5 ½ day lectures (for most units) and 1 written assignment to complete at the end of each unit. Of course, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the learning experience has been quite different to what I expected after hearing the experiences of former Cynllun Yfory trainees. For example, to this day, I have still not met my tutors or fellow students face to face with every lecture being held online.
That being said, it has been a nice experience meeting individuals (virtually) from different organizations, and despite not being a manager and perhaps lacking experience in some areas, the group have been extremely welcoming and have appreciated my input.
To give you an idea, the units of the qualification cover topics such as Change Management, Performance Management and Risk Management to name but a few. ‘Change’ and ‘risk’ are undoubtedly constant things within organizations, but who would have thought that change and risk would have been so relevant in all of our lives on such a large scale as a result of Covid-19? My workplace experiences therefore have helped me with the assignments, and the qualification has provided me with useful theories and tools for the workplace.
I am now looking forward to completing the remaining units and hope to acquire some more useful tools along the way to put into my workplace ‘toolbox’.
