The most exciting news is that I have gained a new member to the Communications team! Ffion will be working with me on the service communication plan, while I will be benefiting from line management responsibility.
I was fortunate to be a part of the recruitment, interviewing and appointment process, before welcoming Ffion on her first day, and planning our work program for the coming months.
It was a very exciting experience to have the responsibility of introducing a new member of staff to the Council, but I also felt very protective of her, remembering only too well my first day on the Scheme over a year ago!
Ffion has been a member of the team for over a month, and we share an office. Although the Communication Plan is my responsibility, I have sufficient support within the service to encourage and help me. In addition to my placement manager in the Youth Service, I have an experienced mentor who is based here in Caernarfon to offer support and give me enough opportunities to ask any silly questions! I also continue to have regular meetings with my line manager and the Scheme manager, and co-work with an experienced Senior Manager on the Children’s Zone Project.
With all the support I have, and an invaluable opportunity to develop myself, I plan to take full advantage of my time to try and apply what I have learned over the past year when attending training days, observing and shadowing managers, in addition to what I have learned in following the CMI Level 7 course in Strategic Management and Management and Leadership!
Here is Ffion and I at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, Dolgellau careers fair raising awareness of the Youth Service.
